Ahoj! (Hello)
I just had to share (which I consider a God story) to what happened to me over the weekend. In a previous email, I had mentioned that my car had broke down in early May and I wasn’t quite sure what I should do with it. It’s a 1991 Ford Escort and not worth anything, at least not worth it for me to pay to get it fix. Well over the weekend, I went to the 1st Baptist Men’s Retreat and over the course of the weekend I talked with a guy, named Jason (just in passing) mentioned the car and he thought he might be interested in taking the car off my hands, for the right price. It was a very short conversation and I didn’t really think much about it. So on Monday morning I went down to the Health Clinic to get an appointment to get my final two vaccinations. The shots are scheduled for this Wednesday. The cost was a higher than anticipated and my cash flow is running a little thin. The Meningitis shot alone is about $140. But I have to get the shots regardless of the price. So while driving back from the clinic I got a call from Jason, he wanted to see my car. We met an hour later. And after some minor negotiating he offered me a price he thought he could afford in order to fix it, in order to resell it and make a little money for himself.. You may have already guessed it, it was the same exact amount that I needed to cover the cost of my vaccinations. God is so good and so into the details of our lives. The car is no longer a worry. Full steam ahead.
I continue to spend a couple of hours a day trying to learn Czech and its slowing making a little more sense to me. Also I have been trying to figure out how I am going to pack for both summer attire during the training in L.A. and then the heavier clothing I will need to have in The Czech Republic. Granted, I don’t have a lot of stuff but the suitcases are looking a little small right now. It’s going to take a major effort on my part to rethink to what things are really needed and to get rid of the other stuff. The next challenge is to find a place where I can store my tools/things. If someone has a place or any ideas I would like to hear them. There’s not a lot, I just need a good size closet space for my things.
The Jail Ministry is still weighing heavy on my mind, I do realize it’s not my ministry but God’s ministry and he will raise-up my replacement. No problem. A neat thing just happened, this past weekend a lady, named Victoria, who just a few months ago accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior (while in jail) actually gave her testimony last Sunday. The other inmates were spelled bound. It was a very powerful Sunday. Please pray for her as she is facing an 18 month prison sentence at Coffee Creek Women’s Prison.
Finally, I told you that I made my May 30th financial hurdle with a few more people sending in their donations. Thank you. I am still about $4,000 short of my final mark. So please pray one more time and really ask God to how He can use you to be personally part of my Ministry team. Bottom-line, I need your help in a very big and personal way. If only 6 more people could pledge, $50 a month (less than a cup of coffee a day) for ten months, I could meet my entire goal. If you don’t want to do the monthly donation you could give a one-time gift donation, remember it is tax deductible. Please continue to pray for me as well. You play a vital part in my next Ministry to the Czech Republic in furthering God’s kingdom.
With July just around the corner I am still looking up and giving God all the glory.
Dekuji (Thank you).
Dave Halverson
