Children

“Family life is the most influential factor in the formation, interpretation and support of children’s faith in God.” –C. Elise Nelson

We as a church family wish to offer our support to parents as they encourage their children’s spiritual growth and character development. Our children’s ministries provide children with opportunities to learn and apply biblical principles to their lives. Our programs include:

Youth Groups

Youth ministry at First Baptist Church exists to develop students who know Christ and seek to make Him known to their world. Our strategy for both junior high/middle school (Sky High) and high school (FLEX) is to provide a variety of opportunities and experiences so that all students can be ministered to at their level of spiritual interest. Our ministry is targeted at three levels: Outreach, Growth and Ministry training.

Music

The music ministry is open to all who would like to share their musical gifts in worship. Whatever your level or type of musical ability, there are opportunities for you. Some of our current groups include the Praise Team, Sanctuary Choir, and Youth Choir.

Our drama ministry is also open to those who would like to share their gifts of ministry through drama.

Missions

We currently support 33 missionary couples or individuals on five continents around the world with roughly 22 percent of our budget. Some home missionaries serve U.S. and international students at OSU. Some reach out to children, homeless or elderly people. Others serve in Latin, African, Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist contexts. Many of those who serve Jesus Christ as full-time missionaries are from our own congregation.

Several times a year, the Missions Board sponsors weekend mini-conferences to highlight the activities of our missionaries and allow the church family several opportunities in different venues a chance to stay in touch with our missionaries and learn more about their ministries. Pictures of our missionaries, along with their prayer letters, are available in the church lobby. Our Missions Board also supports many short-term missionaries each summer. We are working to best serve the church body, our missionaries and our Lord, focusing our energies, resources and talents in strategic ways for the Messiah’s glory.

Women’s Ministries

The purpose of Women’s Ministries is to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of women of all ages and backgrounds. Throughout the year various special activities are planned such as: Women’s Retreat, Christmas Cocoa, Mentoring, and Women’s Camp.

Men’s Ministries

We have several men’s Bible studies that meet at various times and locations.  Other men’s ministry activities at FBC include a monthly men’s ministry gathering, service project teams that minister to those in need in our community, and an annual men’s retreat.  The church office (541-754-7211) will be happy to provide you with more information about men’s ministries and a list of men’s Bible studies and contact numbers.
